Getting Into It
The more I play, the more I want to just play… I’ve been losing my distance and my discipline a little bit. I need to stay vigilant about journaling.
I’ve been leveling up in the combat and scouting roles and getting fairly comfortable with the environment. I’ve been more social and had fairly decent conversations with a couple of other players. The first was with another scout yesterday, and parts of that discussion found their way into the diss chapter; the second last night, with a guy who taught me a skill. The guy last night asked me what profession I was working toward, which made me feel ill-prepared: I’ve been winging it, but now I wonder if I need a better career plan. I’ll have to look into that.
I asked him what faction he was planning to join — there was a Rebel/Imperial battle going on in the town square as we conversed — and he said he was leaving that open. I then asked if he knew if there was a plan for re-enacting Empire and Jedi in the game, which he didn’t know (I don’t know if anyone does, but it’s good to hear people’s impressions). He wasn’t too keen on the idea of predestination in the game. When I said that the Rebels will win anyway, right? Because that’s how the movies go? he replied that, as a game, there needs to be a state of indeterminacy for it to work. The possibility must remain open that the Empire will defeat the Rebellion. What a cool insight!
I saw that other players had badges for going places, so I went to Ben Kenobi’s house. Ben Kenobi’s house doesn’t work — some rendering bug prevents you from entering it. But I did get a badge.
