I would argue that The Authority and the popularization of Apollo and the Midnighter represent a triumphant moment in slash fiction: the rewriting of Superman and Batman as lovers is not only popularized, but released under the auspices of a DC Comics’ affiliate, and to great success. If that is the case, then, what does one make of Authority fan fiction?
