Waste Reduction & Diversion:
Waste is a major contributor to the impact of any event. At EarthX, we focus on first reducing the waste produced overall, and then strive to divert these materials from the landfill through recycling, composting, donations, and repurposing. In 2018, we are working closely with our Dallas partners to sort and divert the waste produced by the event. Visit the Recycling and Waste Expo Area to learn more. Also, be sure to say Hi to our Recycling Rangers at one of the Resource Recovery Stations located throughout the park.

EarthX is happy to partner with Living Earth to provide mulch to our Tiny Home Village, Petting Zoo, and Seed Ball Party. Operating 25 compost manufacturing facilities in Texas, and six facilities in Tennessee, Living Earth® recycles and composts more than 700,000 tons of brush, leaves, grass clippings, unsold produce and yard trimmings each year. Living Earth® transforms these locally diverted materials into earth-friendly mulches, organic compost, and planting mixes that help regenerate our planet.
TerraCycle is the world’s leader in the collection and repurposing of complex waste streams, ranging from used cigarette butts to coffee capsules to ocean plastic. The waste is collected through free manufacturer-funded programs, as well as Zero Waste Boxes that are purchased by end users to recycle in homes, offices, factories, events and more. The collected waste is turned into a variety of raw materials that are sold to manufacturers to produce new products. Each year, across 21 countries, TerraCycle collects and repurposes billions of pieces of waste, donating millions of dollars to schools and charities in the process. To learn more about TerraCycle or get involved in its recycling programs, please visit www.terracycle.com.
Fun Facts- Currently TerraCycle is the world leader in recycling Cigarette Butts! So far we’ve recycled over 92,000,000 of them!
Air travel, ground transportation, electricity, air conditioning, meals and paper are just some of the ways events produce CO2. EarthX’s organizers recognize that events can play a positive role by partnering with CO2logic to calculate the baseline of their carbon impact and inspire the visitors to think about their own personal impact. Once all emissions sources associated with the event will be identified, strategies for reducing these emissions will be devised with the final aim to produce a carbon neutral event in the future.
Ditch the car and get to Fair Park through one of many alternative transportation options!
